Artist Statement

For me, figurative art allows a greater expressive power through a visual language that is natural to mankind. I work directly from life to ensure that the finished work is the result of the emotional exchange that takes place during the creative process between my subject and I.

About Me

Cesare Giuffredi is a classically trained, figurative contemporary artist. Inspired by the artistic tradition in his family dating back to the XIX century, Cesare demonstrated his artistic inclination as soon as he developed the ability to hold drawing tools. As an adolescent, he won several awards and scholarships along the years, such as the Congressional Art Competition at sixteen – where his work was chosen to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a year.

He was given a scholarship to attend the 2017 Figurative Art Convention and Expo (FACE) in the category of artists aged 18-26. Cesare also arrived as a semi-finalist in the 2018 Art Renewal Center (ARC) Salon as well as receiving an ARC scholarship the same year to finish his specialization in still life painting and portraiture at Chiaroscuro Atelier in Miami, FL.

The quest for artistic achievement took him to Florence, Italy where a new chapter of his life commenced by immerging himself in the work of the masters in the museums and churches where he made copies directly from the originals to expand his technical knowledge and craftsmanship. In 2019 he was accepted at the prestigious Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze. In 2022, Cesare obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Accademia di Belle Arti with the highest grades: 110 e lode (Summa cum Laude).

Presently, Cesare lives in Florence, Italy, where he is dedicated to his vocation and its perpetual, exponential improvement, receiving portrait commissions as well as sacred art commissions from the historic Basilica di San Marco. In 2020 he had the opportunity to create a short film, L'armonia nel Tondo, in the Galleria degli Uffizi in which he compared the music of the Renaissance to the Tondo Doni by Michelangelo, in which the highest resolution images ever taken of the masterpiece were realized. In 2024, he participated in the creation of a contemporary mural painting in Venturina Terme in Tuscany.

Cesare’s work can be found in private collections in Europe, the Unites States and South America.
